Pencak Silat
Pencak Silat traces back over a millennium to the Indonesian archipelago, evolving from indigenous hunting and tribal warfare techniques. The term "pencak" from Java and "silat" from Sumatra and the Malay Peninsula were unified in 1948 to represent this diverse martial tradition.
Inspired by animal movements such as tigers, crocodiles, and snakes, early practitioners developed a sophisticated system blending strikes, grappling, and weaponry. Historically, royal guards and warriors trained in Pencak Silat to protect kingdoms, embedding the art deeply in cultural and spiritual life

The establishment of ITKI in Abu Dhabi is the result of a strong initiative and full support from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, which since the year 2000 has recognized the importance of Pencak Silat as a powerful cultural bridge.
